Hi all,
It was a perfect evening for sheltered water racing. Warm, a slight tail wind, flat water with a slow river flow. Starting the race with the whistle soon became a problem as the polo practice ref seemed to be causing a bit of confusion. Hand signals were then used and I will try and get a flag for the next race. Using a new stop watch gave some very fast times so double checking with the old watch did indeed show there was some great improvements.

Race number.........Time..........Competitor

1.............................1.16.25.....Tony
...............................1.17.2.......Claire

2.............................0.51.5.......Nick

3.............................1.17.2.......Anna

4.............................1.06.06.....Charles @ Mark

5.............................0.58.25.....Rob

6.............................1.13..........Anna
...............................1.15..........Jack
...............................1.16..........Tony

7.............................1.02.75.....Charles @ Mark

8.............................0.54.06......Dave ( new member )

9.............................0.50.69......Nick

10...........................0.59.07......Rob

11...........................0.53.17......Dave ( new member )

12...........................1.15...........Jack
...............................1.16...........Tony

13...........................1.05.86......Charles @ Mark

...............................1.40.29......Anna

14...........................1.01.37......Rob

15...........................1.07.83......Ian

16...........................1.11.12......Anna @ Mark

17...........................1.08.38......Rob
...............................1.09.56......Ian

18...........................0.55.62......Tony

19...........................1.07.37......Ian

20...........................0.57.69......Tony

It was noted Rob started race 2 with Nick, unfortunately, Nick was over 10 seconds faster than Rob which caused a problem with time keeping so missing his time. As these races develope, it will be easier when people race against each other to group in ability. This gives a much more fun and competative element. As an example, on a 200m sprint competition I attended on the Thames, our closely matched group of seven finished with less than half a boat length difference from first to last. If anyone is interested in these races, they is held every year at Elmbridge canoe club. Individual times are taken of competitors over 500m on the day and then grouped into time class for the races.

Well done to everyone and some great improvements.
